A bookwork containing Polaroid images and ephemera collected during a five day walk exploring the streets of New York City, during the summer of 1994.
"Turning a corner, laid out on the sidewalk, rows and rows of plain white envelopes, the words 'Messages from Heaven' printed across the front. I picked one up and opened it. Inside an anonmynous fragement of graffiti from the walls and alleyways of the city..."
"I found an old SX-70 at flea market on a vacant lot in Spanish Harlem and started producing my own messaages from the streets."
The book led to a number of commissions for book jackets from Jonathon Cape.
