beyond the trees

Beyond The Trees is a response to the Planet Neptune created for SOLAR, a collaborative arts and technology project, which mapped the solar system from the centre of Sheffield to the nearby Peak District through a series of specially commissioned artworks and a related walking app.

Rowlee Bridge, lies on a former packhorse route close to the A57 Snake Pass on the outermost edge of woodlands surrounding the Ashop River above Ladybower reservoir. Still imagery was produced on repeated twilight journeys to the site and video footage and location audio was captured from the river under Rowlee Bridge.

SOLAR was a commission for the CATALYST Festival of Creativity, Sheffield supported by the Art and Design Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam University.

The SOLAR walking app was launched in the Peace Gardens, Sheffield on the 9th March 2017 and an exhibition of the related artworks was held at the SIA Gallery, Sheffield Hallam University from 14th March - 17th April 2017.
