The New Game
A bookwork of photographs exploring the vernacualr displays of the red, white and blue of the Union Flag in a range of contexts across London during the V.E. Day 50th Anniversary celebrations in May 1995. After years of problematic connotations resulting from it's close association with far right groups and football violence the flag and its colours were, for a brief moment, reborn as a celebratory symbol
The photographs were taken at celebrations in Hyde Park, at The Whitecross Street Party in EC1 and in the Shoreditch, Old Street and Farringdon areas of London between the 6th - 9th May 1995.
The book was selected for exhibition at 'Between the Sheets' Picturehouse, Leicester, 1995.
